Unfortunately , I didn't get a 💖 , actually, I did, but it was from a friend, not an agent.
In truth, what are the chances that my pitch is going to end up in front of the eyes of a right agent? Even with all the retweets from my amazing #writingcommunity! I read the chances were about 5%, maybe less if you don't have a large following. I don't have a large following - joined Twitter four months ago, at the end of October, 2021. However, I met and connected with some fantastic people, and had the opportunity to see and retweet some great pitches. I commented like crazy, couldn't stop myself, that's how good they were. I mean, people are so creative. I sincerely believe that every one of those authors will be published one day. So happy to have been there. Best! 🍷

Today is SFFpit on Twitter - a pitching event reserved for Science Fiction and Fantasy writers.
Agents and publishers get to see our 250-character pitches. If the post receives a ? from one of them, it means they liked it and want to see more. Sometimes they ask you to submit the first ten pages, or a few chapters of your MS (manuscript) and synopsis. If they like what they see, further request will proceed. Last December, I caught a publisher's eye. She asked for my synopsis and the first few chapters. I was excited to get the MS request in January 2022, but it turned into a rejection. On the upside, the editor was supper nice; she gave me tips on improving. So I did. I've been querying my fantasy book "Hunted in Huntstown" since last November, and it would be so cool to get a ? from an agent, big house editor, or publisher. I have three different pitches, and below is one of them.
What do you think? Share on Twitter or give me ? below.
Thanks for participating. ? A week ago, I finished reading Blood Song by Anthony Ryan, and yesterday I started the second book, Tower Lord. Already so good. If you haven't read it, you will after seeing my review!
For this part of the world, January 2022 started mild, but last week, it all changed. Toronto is in southern Ontario, and for that, our winter temperatures are usually warmer than in most parts of Canada. I have a TV in my bedroom, and as I'm getting dressed in the morning, I watch CP24 and check the weather. A habit from my day-care days. Last Friday, it was -21 C. It plunged down to -31 degrees with a wind chill. Even my 14 yo golden doodle, Bailey, wearing her sweater, was chilled. Yesterday the temperature got in the low teens, which is tolerable, but with that, last night, we got a warning about the snowstorm coming our way. This morning, we woke up with the snow reaching car doors, and it kept going. Bailey had difficulty walking through, and so did I. Our morning walk resorted to the backyard. The snow was up to her tummy and filling my boots. I'm going out to take a few pictures. It's around 10 am here. You'll see, guys, what I'm talking about. The city closed Gardiner Express Way and DVP, schools are closed or remote, and the storm is just starting. They are calling for 40-60 cm of snow. I guess we'll see about tomorrow. Stay indoors, and stay safe and healthy. ❄️😊 I posted a short video on my IG account. Click here to check it out. Hello folks,
When I decided to start blogging, I knew it would be about books and what it takes to write or publish one because that's what I know and love. However, there are thousands of them out there, bloggers/writers talking about, reviewing and recommending books. The question was, how would this blog be different from every other out there? I wrote a book and am querying agents. "Big deal," you say, "literary thousands of others are doing the same." And you are right. Ask yourself, why would you trust my opinions on where to spend your time and money? And I answer. On writing or editing tips, querying agents or publishing paths, I promise to pass along the opinions of those with more experience in the industry. As far as book recommendations, it's personal preference, and I feel confident in my skills. After all, if you share some of my likes and dislikes, this would be an excellent read for you. So, let's start. My favorite authors are Jane Austen, Anne O'Brien, Anne Bishop, Cassandra Clare, Stephenie Meyers, Janet Evanovich, Julie Moffett, George R. R. Martin, John Grisham, Jeffery Deaver, Anthony Ryan, and many more. The categories I read are YA and Adult. My favorite genres are fantasy, {except dark/scary paranormal stuff), and historical romance, thrillers, crime, and action/adventure. I am not big on non-fiction, except the books about saints or people/events of personal interest. For instance, I read "Never Cry Wolf" by Farley Mowat, (check the review in Book Reviews and Recommendation page), because I wanted to write a book about werewolves. Extra knowledge on lupus' behavior in a free, uncontrolled environment was needed, and who better than Mowat? His experiences are priceless, his writing style entertaining. In short, I learned a lot, enjoyed the read, and would recommend it. I am not a fan of erotica. I don't mind a hot scene, but context is necessary, and a lot of it. Plot development and a storyline are critical. Three-dimensional characters, show don't tell, and clean POV are a must. If romance, there better be chemistry. Enemies to lovers are the best, but that is just my preference. Make me feel; laugh, cry, biting my nails--and I'll turn those pages until a wee hour in the night/morning. I am not interested in reviewing erotica, spiritual books, or anything focusing on suffering, abuse, or torture--humans or animals. You see, I read to escape reality. Here are a few things about me, and if you are anything like me and like the things I do, this blog may be your chosen read, next to your book, of course. I'm a wife and a mom of two girls, and since June 2021, to a wonderful son-in-law, a 14-year-old golden doodle, 🐕 Bailey, and two cats, 🐈🐈 Simba-15 and Ashes-3. Children, animals and nature are my first love. After that follows me curled up on a couch, or somewhere surrounded by trees, reading. Walking is great if accompanied by a dog or a human friend. Without them, it's a chore unless you use that time to meditate, admiring creation and its Maker. Since many of us who love to read and write also have pets, I thought to dedicate a lovely page to them, with all the experience I've gained over the years. Please, check out the page called Animal Kingdom. I hope that the advice provided is helpful and the videos will make you laugh. Coffee, tea, chocolate, wine and pizza are a must. I love breakfast for dinner but rarely have it because my husband eats eggs every morning. 😪 Wishing you all the best. Cheers! 🍷 |
